Refund policy

Welcome to our refund policy page. We most certainly hope that everything you purchase from Requiem Salvage is a delight and we always want to know if it is not.

Every item we offer is found, salvaged, repurposed or pre-loved. These types of items, by their nature are imperfect or show indications of their former life. Many times, we don't clean an item prior to sale because antiquities can be delicate and collectors are very specific on desired item condition. We aren't experts in the care and feeding of all the treasures so we will often err on the side of a little more dust, patina and rust instead of offering unnaturally shiny antiques. We strive to ensure all known defects are called out in the listing and/or photographed accordingly. Both the listing text and the accompanying photographs represent the description of the product. As a buyer, you are responsible to review all of the available information and ask any necessary questions before making the purchase. By making a purchase, you accept the item you are purchasing is AS-IS, AS-FOUND and secondhand. As such, our policy is all sales are final.

However, sometimes it doesn't always go as planned, so if you aren't delighted, we want to hear from you at hello@requiemsalvage.com, especially if you're experiencing one of these problems:

Three Day Notification for Shipping Issues

We offer local pickup in Philadelphia where you can inspect your item before accepting it or we offer FOB origin shipping. If your item is lost or damaged in shipping, you have three days from actual or expected delivery date to let us know so we can assist you in making a claim to the carrier where you may be able to receive a refund up to the covered value of the shipment, which will never exceed the purchase price before tax and shipping and handling. Please begin this process by taking photographs of the packaging and the item damage and send them to hello@requiemsalvage.co.

Immediate Notification for Wrong Item Received or Missing Items

It happens. You get a stone whale in the box when you ordered an antique tobacco tin. Please let us know as soon as you can and we'll make it right, immediately. Hopefully that means your item gets located and reshipped to you and if that's not possible, we'll process a return for the incorrect item at our cost and when we receive it back, we'll refund you.

Immediate Notification for Item Not As Described

There is significant subjectivity in describing an item, which is why both the text and the pictures are needed to convey the nature of the item. But it's also the case that sometimes we get it totally wrong - It's 16 feet long and wood not 16 inches long and glass. If you feel the item you received materially differs from the listing, please reach out to us at hello@requiemsalvage.co and include photographs to demonstrate the differences you see. We work with you to figure out a fair solution.

Other Types of Damage

Often, we don't have the provenance on an item so we don't know how it was stored, cared for or handled for the first 100 years of it's life. This is why we offer things as-is, as-found, untested and not validated and price them accordingly. Sometimes, since you aren't able to examine it in person, we'll do a basic test and indicate in our listing we observed it working as described. That doesn't mean we can guarantee it will continue to operate that way for some period of time or that it won't need some care, feeding and maintenance after you receive it to keep it that way. Sometimes it doesn't like being jostled in the box and decides not to work for you when it arrives, other times the pearl strung necklace had dry rotted knots and we didn't know because we didn't wear it, or the book was missing a page in the middle. Similar to the items not as described problem, if you encounter an issue like this, please reach out to us at hello@requiemsalvage.co and include photographs to demonstrate the damage you see. We work with you to figure out a fair solution. 

Refunds

Refunds we issue are automatically refunded on your original payment method. You will receive notification when we process it back. Please remember it can take some time for your bank or credit card company to process and post the refund. They set those time frames, we do not.

Buybacks and Swap

Sometimes it's the case you no longer want your item, or another interesting item that we didn't sell you. We do offer some wholesale rate buybacks or salvage swap credit that can be used to purchase other items in our store. Please reach out to us at hello@requiemsalvage.co and include photographs. If you're looking to liquidate a large quantity of items, please use the estate planning form on our website, it helps us get more accurate information to you faster.
